Our Mission

The Columbia Sustainable Finance Professionals Network (CSFPN) is an association of experienced finance professionals with an interest in Sustainable Finance and Investing. It is open to all Columbia graduate students and alumni. Our mission is to connect academia and industry to work on solutions where finance is used as a lever to promote a sustainable future.

Our Story

CSFPN was founded in 2016 by a group of Columbia students who recognized a critical gap: while many of their peers came from finance backgrounds, there were few academic offerings or student groups focused on how financial tools could be applied to address pressing environmental and social challenges. Motivated by a shared belief in the power of capital to drive positive change, they created one of Columbia’s first student-led clubs dedicated to sustainable finance.

Since its founding, CSFPN has grown into a vibrant community of students, alumni, and professionals committed to advancing sustainability through financial innovation. We serve as a hub that brings together three key communities: students exploring purpose-driven careers, professionals navigating sustainability in practice, and the broader university ecosystem as a space for academic inquiry and innovation.

Through events, workshops, speaker series, and networking opportunities, CSFPN fosters learning, dialogue, and collaboration—empowering our members to lead with impact in a rapidly evolving field. At our core, we remain driven by the same spirit that inspired our founding: curiosity, connection, and a belief that finance can—and must—play a role in building a more sustainable world.
